Covering up the new cool features in Illustrator and Photoshop CS5 25/12/2010
Rate:
Be the first to RankDid you know that Adobe Photoshop is 20 years old and Illustrator has been around over 24 years? I’ve been using Photoshop since version 5 and Illustrator since version 8. It is amazing to see how they are progressively improving and adding more features. Now with vector features and 3D tools, Photoshop is no longer just an image editing tool. The same goes with Illustrator, Bristle Brushes were added to simulate bitmap drawing. I’ve been using CS5 for several months so in this post, I’m going to share my thoughts on CS5. Be the first to RankAs web technologies constantly advance, the skills a developer is expected to have are constantly increasing. Web users are beginning to expect Ajax interfaces, charts and graphs and a whole host of other tricks and features. Google erected their Webmaster tools some time ago. Part of this is sitemap.xml, a file containing all the urls of your website to allow for easier indexing by Google and other search engines. It’s in xml, writing it by hand would thus be a serious PITA. Today I whipped up a small library for Kohana to aid in this. In part it uses the get_url() method I posted on earlier. Area select in jQuery and PHP 16/02/2010
Rate:
Very slick "area select" on-top of images plugin for jQuery. You can use it in your projects to create image "tags" or "tooltips" like Facebook does, or Flickr does even better. As usual for jQuery awesomeness, this is pretty easy to integrate.

And here's somebody that shows a validation processor in PHP that can crop the select area and save as an image.

Be the first to RankI am currently in the process of learning CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) based web design since it is now the standard foundation of layout for almost all web sites. I have read several books now and I still believe that I am slightly lost when it comes time to applying what I know from scratch. Over the past several months, I’ve been keeping a list for myself of potentially amazing tools and applications (most web based – all of them free) to make my CSS web design experience a snap. I purposely cut out over 30 options from this list, because these are the most user friendly and simplest to use.. Location: CSS / Webmaster Tools
